1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Pantry mobile application (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Pantry is a food inventory management application that allows you to:

  • Track food items in your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer
  • Monitor expiration dates and receive notifications
  • Share pantries with other users for collaborative management
  • Scan barcodes to retrieve product information

3. Account Terms

3.1 Account Creation

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account

3.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users’ accounts
  • Not upload malicious code or interfere with the Service’s operation
  • Not abuse the pantry sharing feature to spam or harass other users
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of others

5. Shared Pantries

5.1 Inviting Users

When you invite other users to a pantry, you are granting them access to view and modify all items within that pantry. Only invite users you trust.

5.2 Pantry Roles

  • Owner: Full control including adding/removing members and deleting the pantry
  • Member: Can view and modify items but cannot manage pantry membership

5.3 Data Visibility

All members of a shared pantry can see all items, expiration dates, photos, and notes within that pantry. Members receive notifications for expiring items in shared pantries.

6. User Content and Ownership

6.1 Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you create in the Service (pantry items, photos, notes). By using the Service, you grant us a license to store, process, and display this data solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

6.2 Third-Party Content

Product information retrieved from Open Food Facts or other third-party sources is owned by those providers. We do not claim ownership of this content.

7. Intellectual Property

The Pantry application, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

8. Food Safety Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: Pantry is a food tracking tool, not a food safety authority.

  • Expiration dates are user-entered and may be inaccurate
  • We do not guarantee the safety or quality of food items tracked in the app
  • Always use your own judgment and follow food safety guidelines when consuming food
  • Consult the USDA or other food safety authorities for proper food storage and handling
  • We are not liable for foodborne illness or any health issues resulting from food consumption

9. Third-Party Services Disclaimer

Product information from Open Food Facts and other third-party sources may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. We do not verify this information and make no warranties about its accuracy or reliability.

10. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Freedom from viruses or harmful components
  • Accuracy or reliability of notifications
  • Availability during maintenance or technical issues

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • The Service is provided “AS IS” without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $100 if you have not paid us anything)
  • We are not responsible for data loss, though we make reasonable efforts to prevent it

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Food safety incidents related to items you tracked in the app

13. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law
